Many businesses across the United Kingdom are asking how they can secure electricity at a predictable and affordable rate that sits below 20p per kilowatt hour. With energy markets remaining unpredictable, traditional supply contracts can often leave organisations exposed to sudden price increases and budgeting uncertainty. At Sunpower Services, we work with businesses every day who want greater control over their energy costs while also reducing their carbon footprint.
The good news is that there is a proven way to achieve electricity prices from below 20p per kilowatt hour, and in many cases from as low as 18p per kilowatt hour, through a commercial solar solution known as a Power Purchase Agreement.
What is a Solar Power Purchase Agreement
A Power Purchase Agreement, often referred to as a PPA, is a long term arrangement where we install and maintain solar panels at your business premises at no upfront cost to you. In return, you simply purchase the electricity generated on site at an agreed unit rate.
At Sunpower Services, we provide this solution to eligible businesses across England and Wales, helping them access cheaper, greener electricity without the need for capital investment.
This means you do not need to buy solar panels, fund installation, or worry about ongoing maintenance. Instead, you benefit directly from the electricity produced on your roof or ground space.
Electricity from as low as 18p per kilowatt hour
Through our solar Power Purchase Agreement, we are able to offer electricity prices starting from as low as 18p per kilowatt hour depending on the length of the contract agreed. This is often significantly lower than standard commercial electricity tariffs.
The exact unit rate depends on the contract term. Longer agreements typically benefit from lower pricing. The rate is fixed until the thirty first of December in the year the agreement begins, and after that it is adjusted annually in line with inflation on the first of January for the remaining duration of the contract.
How our solar electricity supply works
When we install a solar system at your premises, it generates electricity during daylight hours which is used directly by your business. You only pay for the electricity you actually consume on site.
Any electricity that is not used at the time of generation is exported to the grid. You are not charged for this exported electricity. We retain the right to benefit from the export revenue, which helps us continue to provide low cost electricity to our customers.
What is included in our service
When we install and operate a solar system under a Power Purchase Agreement, we cover all of the following elements at no upfront cost to your business:
We supply photovoltaic panels, inverters, direct current cabling, alternating current cabling, switch gear, metering equipment, full installation works, grid application costs, system insurance, ongoing monitoring, maintenance, panel cleaning and inverter replacement when required.
Our price guarantee
One of the key benefits we offer is our business electricity guarantee. We ensure that the price we charge for electricity will always be at least 10 percent below the all in commercial electricity rate that you are paying at any given time during the agreement.
If market electricity prices fall significantly and the difference becomes less than this margin, we will adjust our rate accordingly.
Billing and payment structure
Our billing process is designed to be simple and transparent. Electricity is metered accurately so you only pay for what you use. We invoice monthly in arrears, and payment is taken by direct debit approximately fifteen days after the invoice is issued.
Maintenance and ongoing support
We take full responsibility for maintaining the solar installation throughout the agreement. This includes performance monitoring, cleaning, servicing, and replacement of key components such as inverters if required.
We also carry out a full structural survey before installation to ensure your building is suitable.
Is your site suitable for solar
Before any installation, we assess whether your premises are suitable for a solar system. Typically, suitable sites have a solid roof construction, sufficient remaining roof life of at least twenty years, a roof orientation broadly facing south east to south west, minimal shading from nearby structures or trees, and are located in England or Wales.
Ground mounted solar options
Where rooftop installations are not viable, we can design and install ground mounted solar systems. These operate in the same way as rooftop systems but are positioned on land adjacent to your premises.
Reducing your business energy costs and carbon footprint
Our aim at Sunpower Services is to help businesses reduce electricity costs while supporting the transition towards net zero. By using electricity generated on site, every unit of solar energy consumed replaces a unit of imported grid electricity.
